The SDLT Calculator has been updated to reflect the upcoming Stamp Duty Land Tax rate changes which take effect in April 2025.
The changes include:
- Revised SDLT thresholds: The minimum property value subject to SDLT has been reduced from £250,000 to £125,000.
- Updated First-Time Buyer threshold: First-time buyers will now start paying SDLT on properties over £300,000, a decrease from the previous £425,000 threshold.
- Adjusted First-Time Buyer relief: The maximum property value eligible for first-time buyer relief has been reduced from £625,000 to £500,000, impacting higher value purchases.
These rates are effective for matters with a Completion Date on or after 1st April 2025.
Domestic Violence renamed to Domestic Abuse
The Domestic Violence matter type has now been renamed to 'Domestic Abuse' to more accurately reflect terminology used in legal proceedings.

The SDLT Calculator has been updated in accordance with the Autumn 2024 rates.
These changes include:
These rates are effective for matters with a Date Opened or a Completion Date on or after 31st October 2024 however if the the Exchange Date is on or before 31st October and the transaction would be subject to the rate change, the previous rate will be applied.
As the eForms system is being phased out, please be informed of the new methods for submitting CRM7 claims for non-standard magistrates' court payments. After the removal of the eForms system at the end of October 2024, you will have two options:
Online Submission:
You can submit your claims through the LAA Online Portal. To do this, select "Submit a crime forms" and then choose "Claim a non-standard magistrates' court payment."
Paper Submission:
Alternatively, you may submit your claim via a paper form. Download and complete the form, then send it by post. The form can be generated from the Legal Aid App.

LEAP's Estate Administration app is moving out of Beta and is available from the Probate - Estate Administration and Letters of Administration - Estate Administration matter types.
The app will not be available from the matter types with a (legacy) prefix e.g., (Legacy) Probate. These legacy matter types will continue to use the IHT400 App and should be used alongside the version of the IHT forms also labeled (Legacy).
