The SDLT Calculator has been updated to reflect the upcoming Stamp Duty Land Tax rate changes which take effect in April 2025.
The changes include:
- Revised SDLT thresholds: The minimum property value subject to SDLT has been reduced from £250,000 to £125,000.
- Updated First-Time Buyer threshold: First-time buyers will now start paying SDLT on properties over £300,000, a decrease from the previous £425,000 threshold.
- Adjusted First-Time Buyer relief: The maximum property value eligible for first-time buyer relief has been reduced from £625,000 to £500,000, impacting higher value purchases.
These rates are effective for matters with a Completion Date on or after 1st April 2025.
Domestic Violence renamed to Domestic Abuse
The Domestic Violence matter type has now been renamed to 'Domestic Abuse' to more accurately reflect terminology used in legal proceedings.

LEAP's AI prompts take on the complex task of instructing Matter AI to create highly relevant and useful legal documents. We have released over 30 Prompt Templates that utilise Matter AI for Word in Prompt Mode across areas of law that tailor each draft to specific matter you are in.

AI Prompt Templates include:

The SDLT Calculator has been updated in accordance with the Autumn 2024 rates.
These changes include:
- Updating the SDLT rate from 3% to 5% for the purchase of additional properties by an individual or non-natural person
- Updating the SDLT rate from 15% to 17% for companies acquiring residential properties worth more than £500,000
These rates are effective for matters with a Date Opened or a Completion Date on or after 31st October 2024 however if the the Exchange Date is on or before 31st October and the transaction would be subject to the rate change, the previous rate will be applied.
As the eForms system is being phased out, please be informed of the new methods for submitting CRM7 claims for non-standard magistrates' court payments. After the removal of the eForms system at the end of October 2024, you will have two options:
Online Submission:
You can submit your claims through the LAA Online Portal. To do this, select "Submit a crime forms" and then choose "Claim a non-standard magistrates' court payment."
Paper Submission:
Alternatively, you may submit your claim via a paper form. Download and complete the form, then send it by post. The form can be generated from the Legal Aid App.
The Compliance table and Conveyancing Details tables have been updated with a new look and feel and additional features.

A new version of the Form E - Financial Statement is now available for user feedback.
This version removes the need to complete most matter tables to calculate the form as this can all be completed and calculated 'within the form'.

LEAP's Estate Administration app is moving out of Beta and is available from the Probate - Estate Administration and Letters of Administration - Estate Administration matter types.
The app will not be available from the matter types with a (legacy) prefix e.g., (Legacy) Probate. These legacy matter types will continue to use the IHT400 App and should be used alongside the version of the IHT forms also labeled (Legacy).

The Parker's Will precedents will no longer be available from the LEAP form library from 20th September 2023.

LEAP has added a Notice of Severance precedent to the Wills & Lifetime Planning area of law. This document can be found in the Drafted Precedent folder under the Wills matter type or by searching using the precedent code LE-ENG-WLTP-251.
LEAP has added additional fields that are applicable and available to use from Shipping matter types. These additions include the following:
- - Ship Register has been added as a new Card
- - Other Side's Surveyor has been added as a new Card
- - Vessel Name and Flag State have been added as new fields under Vehicle
Ship Register, Surveyor, Other Side's Surveyor, Expert, Broker and Claim's Handler have been added to Shipping matter types as optional Tables.
LEAP has updated Divorce forms in line with the latest versions published on 18 August 2023, this update includes the following:
- Form D8: Apply for a divorce or to dissolve a civil partnership
- Form D8S: Apply for a judicial separation
LEAP has updated Enforcement 'Form EAC1: Application for a certificate to act as an enforcement agent' in line with the latest version published on 14th August 2023.
LEAP has updated Criminal Procedure Rule forms line with the latest versions published on 14 August 2023, this update includes the following:
- Form CrimPR 14.6: Application to a magistrates' court to reconsider police bail
- Form CrimPR 14.8: Defendant’s application or appeal to the Crown Court after magistrates’ court bail decision
