Folder Structure Updates

We are making improvements to the folder structure for forms, letters, and drafted precedents across all areas of law. These changes are designed to make it easier and quicker to locate the documents you need within LEAP.

What’s Changing

The document structure is being reorganised to provide a more consistent and intuitive experience when locating documents. The main changes include the removal of the LEAP FORMS & DOCUMENTS top level folder.

Instead, LEAP Forms, LEAP Letters, LEAP Document and our area of Law Prompt Library folders are visible when browsing each matter type.

Area of Law specific structures will then be out within these folders - see example changes for Criminal below

These improvements are aimed at reducing time spent searching for documents and ensuring a more efficient workflow.

Important: Folder Removal Impact

If you previously saved documents within these folders, they may no longer be assigned to a location and will appear as “orphaned.”

To ensure continued access and proper organisation, these documents will need to be reallocated to the appropriate folders.

We recommend reviewing any affected documents and reassigning them to a different folder.

Area of Law Example - Criminal

Criminal folders are set out as stage based folder.

Folders are now organised by the key stages of a Criminal matter (e.g. Police Station, Magistrates Court, Crown Court).

This structure reflects a clear workflow, helping users move through matters step by step, locate relevant documents more easily, and work in a way that aligns with how matters naturally progress.

No folders within the Criminal area of law have been deleted, so any custom folders you have created will not be affected.

The only change is that “LEAP FORMS & DOCUMENTS” has been renamed to “LEAP Forms.”

Dual Visibility

Within Criminal, documents are not limited to a single location.

Documents stored in LEAP Forms, LEAP Letters, LEAP Documents, and the Prompt Library are also visible within the relevant stage folders.

This allows you to access documents either by category (Forms, Letters, etc.) or within the appropriate stage of the workflow, depending on how you prefer to work.

Removed folders

  • Commercial Property Transfer - LEAP FORM & DOCUMENTS folder - removed as an empty folder
  • New Lease - LEAP FORM & DOCUMENTS folder - removed as an empty folder
  • Immigration Appeal - LEAP FORM & DOCUMENTS folder - removed as an empty folder
  • Estates Dispute - Claim Forms Folder - removed as an empty folder
  • Health Care - LEAP FORM & DOCUMENTS folder - removed as an empty folder
  • Wills - LEAP FORM & DOCUMENTS folder - removed as an empty folder
  • Housing - LEAP FORM & DOCUMENTS folder - removed as an empty folder

Some shortcut folders may also have been removed. Removed shortcuts will not will not cause any documents to be 'orphaned'.
