Resetting the Connection Between LEAP and Word

Purpose:  To resolve connection issues between Microsoft Word and LEAP.

When to use: If there are problems with the LEAP add-in for Microsoft Word.

Configure Word Add-ins and Trust Center Settings

 

Please configure your Word Addiins and Trust Center Settings as detailed below to resolve any connection issues between Microsoft Word and LEAP.

This will include changing the Macro Settings and ActiveX Settings within Word:

  1. In Word, go to File > Options > Add-ins.

  2. Click Go next to Manage COM Add-ins.

  3. Deselect to disable any third-party add-ins such as Adobe PDF and Adobe Document Cloud as they can conflict with the LEAP add-in (Microsoft add-ins are acceptable).

  4. Ensure the LEAP Office for Word add-in is selected.

  5. Go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings.

  1. Click Active X Settings and tick Enable all controls without restrictions and without prompting.

  2. Deselect Safe mode and click OK.

  3. If you're still experiencing issues with LEAP and Word, please perform an Automation Repair, restart your device and then check if the problem persists.

Antivirus software and firewall solutions have an aggressive approach to protecting your computer. Sometimes they can block harmless files due to the file’s name, size, data or actions.

 

To resolve this, please add LEAP to your Antivirus Exceptions list.

Issues That Can Be Resolved by Adjusting Word Add-ins and Trust Center Settings

 

If you experience any of these issues, they can be resolved by following the steps to reset the connection between LEAP and Word:

  • LEAP could not communicate with Microsoft Word. Would you like to run a repair?
  • LEAP has experienced a communication problem. Please restart Microsoft Word and if the problem persists please log a call and quote error code: 1;-3.
  • Configuration system failed to initialize.
  • Microsoft Word has failed to open successfully, LEAP has resolved the issue.
  • Microsoft Word is taking longer than expected to respond
  • Value cannot be null. Parameter name: 0
  • Access to the path is denied. (For this error, you may also run LEAP as administrator.)
  • Unable to open Word documents/precedents from a LEAP matter.
  • Difficulty converting Word documents to PDF.
  • Unable to save and close word document in LEAP.
  • LEAP crashing when creating a new document such as memo.
  • Object variable or With block variable not set.
  • "LEAP cannot parse documents record" while trying to rename and save a word document into LEAP.
  • Instances where Microsoft Word becomes unresponsive and displays a dialog box prompting the user to either close the program or wait for it to respond.
  • Object reference not set to an instance of an object in word
  • Word is running into problems with "leapofficeword"
  • The execution clauses are blank and not appearing in the document.
  • Headers or footers do not appear.
