While LEAP and QuickBooks or Xero are two separate systems, it is very important that you regularly check that the two systems balance as QuickBooks and Xero holds ‘Control Accounts’ for debtors, outlays (disbursements) and other important nominal ledgers.

We recommend that you regularly, particularly at a month end, compare your Matter Balances with the QuickBooks Trial Balance or Xero Trial Balance as follows:

• Debtors - Credits. This should equal the balance held in the LEAP Debtors figure in QuickBooks or Xero.
• Disbursements (Outlays). This is the difference between the LEAP Office Payments and LEAP Payments Received ledgers in QuickBooks or Xero.

If you find any imbalances, please run through the following checks before contacting the HelpDesk:

• Ensure all journals have been exported to QuickBooks or Xero from LEAP.
• Check for any manual postings into the nominal ledger in QuickBooks or Xero.

Once you have checked that all journals have been exported, and there has been no manual posting into the nominal ledger, then contact the HelpDesk who will investigate the issue further.
